According to WRAP (Waste and Resources Action Programme) up to 15 million tonnes of food is disposed of annually by restaurants and food manufacturers. Boris’ scheme aims to prevent 1,000 tonnes of this from entering landfill but seeking environmentally friendly methods of disposal.
The initiative aims to cut waste, help the environment and save energy showing London food businesses that they can save money on their bills too if they choose a greener way to operate.
